In our world today, it is almost impossible to scroll on your phone, watch TV, or listen to the radio in the car without encountering some form of news. News is constantly pushed into our algorithms, from all angles of politics.
However, when looking at these news sources, we often find the same voices are being projected into the media. Sometimes I find that news gets repetitive, and it's hard to tell what is real and what is not, especially when it comes from the same source. As a college student and young adult, it's important to keep an open mind and search for many different angles, and find the voices we don't always notice.

Antiwar.com
When opening the Antiwar.com website in my browser, I was almost overwhelmed by the amount of information I was seeing. There are links to hundreds of articles on just the front page.
The purpose of this website is, "to get past the media filters and reveal the truth about America's foreign olicy. Citing a wide variety of sources without fear or favor, and presenting our own views in the regular columns of various contributors, we clearly differentiate between fact and opinion, and let our readers know which is which."
Reading the headlines of some of these articles, I realized how censored the media that we consume can be. The bluntness of these articles shows that these voices are ready to be heard, and come from many sides of politics.

The American Conservative.
The American Conservative website, though less overwhelming on its home page, also shows several headlines unlike I have seen in mainstream media.
This website "exists to advance a 'Mainstreet Conservatism' that opposes unchecked power in government and buisness, promotes the flourishing of families and communities through vibrant markets and free people, and embraces realism and restraint in foreign affairs based on America's vital national interests."
Just by looking at the home page, there are articles posted at all times of the day. In fact, every almost article I saw was from the day that this blog post is being written, or within the past 2 days. This shows me that the voices on this website are passionate about keeping its readers in the loop of what is going on.

Mainstream News Sources.
Looking at both of these websites, I'm pleased to see a change in pace from the type of coverage I see on mainstream platforms. I feel like all I see when I look at news sources is stories about President Trump's involvement in different polices and events, and coverage on many other government officials. I think that because these mainstream sources such as FOX, CNN, and NBC hold the most viewership, it's easier for people to just go straight to their favorite source.
Visiting the Antiwar.com website and The American Conservative website have given me a better understanding of how important it is to find reliable, varying sources of information. Just because these voices are the loudest doesn't mean the quiet ones shouldn't be heard.
